Come and meet Elizabeth Wein, whose book Rose Under Fire was chosen as the 2017 One Book, One Community selection. Elizabeth Wein spent her early childhood in England and Jamaica, where her father, an educational psychologist, worked for the Headstart program in in its formative years. At nine, her parents separated and she moved back to the Harrisburg area with her mother, who’d grown up in Hummelstown. Elizabeth’s parents both died young, and during her teens she was taken in by her maternal grandmother, Betty Saylor Flocken, a native of Lebanon who lived for many years in Mt. Gretna. Read more.
